celly belly

I'm back..not really with a vengeance, but with a coffee (at this precise moment) and an exciting piece of news! (The coffee wasn't the exciting piece of news...I am 24 but not quite that sad, YET).
The piece of news is...drum roll...I have a CELLO!!
I've wanted acello for a very long time, since uni, but they're always very very expensive. But thanks to the joys of ebay, I found one I could afford!
It's very beautiful (in a wrinkled, chipped, rescued from a bonfire sort of way) - it's an old 3/4 size one (good to learn on you see), and I think it's Hungarian (or possibly Romanian actually). I learnt this morning how to pluck a D and an A, haven't plucked (ha ha) up the courage to resin up my bow yet and try to bow a note (I don't know how to use resin...all pearls of wisdom appreciated) - think I will try tonight. As well as cello, bow and resin, I am armed with Abracadabra book one for cello...no stopping me!
Name wise...I do like to try and name my instruments - so suggestions on a post card (or comment) please. My thoughts so far have been chip or chips (as in chips in the body work!), or hunk (as in hunks of wood missing from the bodywork), but I want something a bit more positive I think...my cello needs some tlc and respect after a long and hard life.
